G’day, I’m Jake, the face behind Journey Van Builds.

With not a tool to my name and not even a driveway to work on—that’s how my van build journey began! A few years back, I was on a Working Holiday in Germany, soaking up the language, culture, and all the new experiences with plans to explore Europe. Before that adventure wrapped up, I decided to buy a van to add some freedom to my trip.

Now, to be honest, I had no clue what I was doing at first. No fancy tools, no workshop—just a whole lot of determination and a DIY spirit. But you know what? That journey changed my life.

My path to van builds didn’t start there, though. Back in Melbourne, I spent close to a decade in commercial construction. And these days, I've added more skills to the toolkit by working with a company building caravans. So while I know exactly what it feels like to be in over your head on a van build, I also know the ins and outs of making your vision come together, solid and reliable.

Fast forward, and here we are. Journey Van Builds isn’t just a business for me; it’s a passion project. I’ve put my heart into creating a space where van enthusiasts like you can find support, inspiration, and a sense of community.
